On January 26, customs officials celebrate World Customs Day. The world customs community celebrates the first official session of the Customs Cooperation Council, now known as the World Customs Organization (WCO), which took place on this date in 1953. The World Customs Organization now has 183 member countries. Bulgaria has been a member of the WCO since August 1, 1973.
Traditionally, World Customs Day is celebrated under a specific theme, which for 2025 is: “Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security and Prosperity”
